More lessons from living with an Olympian

1988 Men’s Water Polo Olympic team

Lessons from living with an Olympian:

Teamwork leads to success.

This is a picture of my husband with the 1988 Men’s Water Polo Olympic team.

They won the silver medal!

How amazing is that?!

And they formed friendships for life.

Of course, they were very skilled at water polo, but standing up on the podium and accepting an Olympic medal takes more than skills.

It takes support, encouragement, and belief that everyone is trying their best.

It takes a deep camaraderie and respect for each other.

How can you bring this approach into your relationship with your teenager?

  • Ask how you can support them in achieving their goals.

  • Celebrate their strengths and take an interest in their perspectives.

  • Listen to them without offering advice, especially during tough times.

  • Find fun things to do together.

  • Build trust through consistent actions and promises.

  • When they mess up, reassure them that it’s okay and that you believe in them.

So, ease up on the worry pedal and ask yourself, how best can I support my teenager right now?

When you do, communication and connection will flow.

Are you motivated to help your teen become the best version of themselves and form a lifelong bond with you?

If so, call me.

I would love to help you become your teen’s go-to person.
