Try this ONE phrase to help you enjoy the holidays.
Welcome to the holidays—the most stressful (and wonderful) time of the year!
Your to-do list is endless.
There isn’t enough time in the day.
You are not getting the help you need.
To prevent yourself from spiraling into a tailspin, use this mantra that my coach, Stacey Boehman, shared with me:
“Nothing has gone wrong.”
When the gift you ordered doesn’t arrive on time…
Say to yourself, “Nothing has gone wrong.”
When your holiday dinner doesn’t turn out as planned…
“Nothing has gone wrong.”
When your teen wants to hang out with their friends instead of family…
“Nothing has gone wrong.”
This helps to subdue disappointment, shed anger or frustration, stop blaming others, and avoid the trap of resentment.
These are all normal human responses to the anticipation and stress of the holidays. However, sitting in these feelings for too long doesn't serve you.
So when you are ready to get back on track, say to yourself:
“Nothing has gone wrong. This is not a problem.”
I know this may seem hard to do, but you can do it!
It will help you to overlook the little things and focus on what’s most important.
You will feel more in control of your circumstances.
You’ll more easily accept the present situation and decide how you want to move forward.
Often, life doesn’t go as planned. But telling yourself, “Nothing has gone wrong” gives you the opportunity to experience a more joyous and meaningful holiday season.
Warm holidays wishes to you and your family,
Jeanine
