You don’t have to create a magical Christmas alone.
When your kids were young, you created the magic of Christmas. You decorated the house, shopped for and lovingly wrapped the perfect presents, and delighted in holiday traditions.
You loved the warm feeling of being together as a family and the joy of watching your children gleefully open their gifts.
You may feel nostalgic for the days when your kids were so excited to see Santa at the mall, decorate gingerbread houses, and play with their new toys.
Now that they’ve outgrown those traditions, it is stressful to try to find the perfect present and create that same magic.
What do you love about Christmas? Family time, meaningful connection, fun, and laughter?
You can still make that happen.
Together.
Teenagers love to be included in the planning and decision making of family time. It gives them the opportunity to have control over how they spend their vacation.
Ask them for their ideas to make Christmas a wonderful time together.
What sounds fun to them? How would they like to celebrate?
Perhaps it’s time to shift from a bounty of gifts to sharing experiences together.
Create new family traditions like cooking a meal, playing a game, enjoying a show, building a puzzle, or going for a walk to see the holiday lights.
They’ll enjoy participating in the plans and you won’t feel like the burden is completely on your shoulders to make this holiday magical.
Your teens are in a new chapter of life, ready to share a different type of Christmas magic.
Together, you can create new traditions with family time, meaningful connection, joy, and laughter.
It just might look different from when they were toddlers.
