I learned this gem in a parenting program 💎

I learned this gem in a parenting program and it has really made a difference. Here it is:

Two opposing facts can be true at the same time.

Your teen can be a little shit AND you still love them with all your heart. (They are your baby and always will be.)

Your teen can push you away AND still need you. (They are trying to balance their need for independence.)

Your teen can behave recklessly AND you can trust that they will be okay. (They will learn to manage their impulsive actions.)

Your teen can fail a test AND still get into a good college. (There are many terrific choices.)

Your teen can be lazy AND still live a happy and fulfilled life. (At this moment, they might need downtime from all the pressure.)

Your teen can be struggling AND you can believe that nothing is wrong with them. (They just haven’t learned a particular skill yet.)

Your teen can be disrespectful AND you can trust they still love you. (Teens are learning communication skills.)

You can be disappointed with your teen AND still know they will be okay. (Today’s behavior doesn’t determine their future.)

You can explode at your teen AND still be a good parent. (You are trying your very best with the tools you have.)

You can feel like you’ve created a beautiful family AND you’ve lost a piece of yourself. (Raising a family is the biggest commitment of your life.)

You can be exhausted trying to parent your teen AND not give up on them. (You are resilient.)

You are doing the best you can AND you want to be doing better. (We are always learning.)

Make room in your mind and your heart for multiple truths.

What 2 opposing things are true in your life?

Your coach,
Jeanine
