Let’s Get Your Mindset Working for You
Wayne Dyer said, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
All of us are experiencing huge change in our lives due to COVID-19. Our routines have been disrupted, we are living with loved ones we didn’t expect to, and our employment and finances have changed. It’s perfectly natural to feel stress, fear, and anxiety because of these life-changing disruptions and uncertainty regarding what’s next.
But what if we were to accept that the future is unknown right now and lean in to looking at our current situation from a new perspective?
It’s human nature to resist change, but if we changed our mindset, what opportunities might open up?
How can we feel better about what’s happening right now if we look at it in a different way?
My daughter is currently living with me in California and she shared her frustration feeling tethered to a huge monthly rent in NYC and not knowing when she can return to work. She also felt stuck at home because after paying rent, she was left with little disposable income. By reframing the situation in her mind and looking for the opportunity, she realized by giving up her NYC apartment, she would be able to explore cities across the U.S. during this “Work From Home” time period. She was filled with excitement thinking about visiting places she has never seen, hanging out with friends, and the chance to experience life on the road. She went from feeling stuck due to the pandemic to feeling excited about the possibilities.
So why not get your mindset working for you. Reframe current circumstances in your mind to increase your joy, motivation, and life engagement.
